San Francisco Write to Market Conference
Introduction To This Event
The WTM event in Corte Madera, California (15 minutes north of San Francisco), lasts for three days and allows up to 50+ attendees. The event provides comprehensive, hands-on experience with everything the aspiring author must know in order to be realistically competitive in today's market. Lectures, assignments, and panels follow the Algonkian workshop format below with emphasis on premise and plot, platform, market, and execution. Advantages are shorter amount of days, lower cost, a greater number of agents to pitch, and a comprehensive prose/MS Structural analysis that provides a realistic assessment of the novel's strengths and weaknesses. Upon completing this event, you will understand how to:
- Display the craft, voice, and narrative verve that will put you on top even with the most discriminating editor or agent.
- Develop a reality check-list for all major structural and narrative issues that profoundly affect your novel.
- Reevaluate your novel premise, development, and all else in a manner the market demands and rewards.
Features
Prior to arrival you will be provided with an array of pre-conference work and study guides that we hope will be revelatory, and these include a collection of readings and related assignments to be completed on our online forum, The Writer's Block. Included also is our own time-tested Algonkian Competitive Fiction Guide, as well as further assignments focused on novel structure and craft. At the event itself you will engage in network pitch sessions and interact with some of the best list-building agents who will be present to provide connection and advice in proportion to your needs.
